a Recap of our Indiana Safety Summit
Our last Public/School Safety training summit was a major success. We had the distinct honor and pleasure of having many nationally recognized school safety experts as key presenters and guests throughout the 8 hour certified training for Law Enforcement and Educators. The event was co-sponsored by the Indiana Sheriffs' Association and was hosted at the Hamilton County Juvenile Services Center.
We are very thankful for the generous partners who helped make this event so special: The Indiana Sheriffs' Association, A Simple Reminder, Armoured One Tactical Group, Layered Solutions Inc., SikhsPAC, The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, and everyone else who showed their support by volunteering their time and effort to pull off our Indiana Safety Summit.
We were able to gain tremendous insight from Michael Dorn (Safe Havens International) about situational awareness during a crisis, how to prepare for the inevitable and warning signs for preparation of violence occurring in our schools. Along with Mr. Dorn, we were able to welcome Lt. Col Dave Grossman (Killology.com) as a key speaker at the training and gain invaluable insight into the mindset of a killer, the motives behind active-killer events and what we as educators and law enforcement can do to be best prepared for the acts of violence that face our schools in the years to come. Steve Luce (Executive Director ISA) was able to be there and speak to our audience about the need for leadership in the years to come and also share with everyone his commitment to continue pushing for safer learning environments throughout Indiana as part of his association’s Safe School Initiative. A very special thank you also goes out to Dr. Percy Clark (Indiana Virtual School) for his motivating comments after lunch about the need to support our Law Enforcement and First Responders even more than we currently do and the further need to hold ourselves accountable for the state of educational safety in today’s America.
A very special THANK YOU to everyone in attendance and for your willingness to participate and be engaged throughout the whole process!
